Hideous hotel bar. Sterile inside with the servery adorned with lovely shiny chrome beer fonts to dispense a variety of dull fizzpops. Not really a pub crawl destination.

Bar 1871 is a large hotel bar that happens to be on my walk from the train station to the bus station,so it had to be done.
Once inside there is a large single square shaped room with the bar facing,there is bench seating running down each side of the room and long tables in the middle,there are some tall tables to the front.
No real ales on the bar,so i had a drink of Boddingtons cream crap which was crap.
The bar was packed on my early Friday evening visit with mainly 25 to 30 year olds so it was standing room only.
Not my sort of place at all,but those who were in there seemed happy enough.

Massively overpriced bar in the Marriott hotel.

I didn't drink here even when I was staying. Lots of better options close by.
