Another excellent friendly pub a short walk down the road from the Traveller's Rest. It's your typical cosy country pub with log burners and carpets. There's a pool table to the right of entrance and also a very large impressive outdoor seating area. As Will says, the bar front really is impressive. A good few people in on my Monday afternoon visit, plenty of dogs roaming around too, so I retreated out the back for a while as they took a bit of a shine to me! 5 handpumps serving Pictish Alchemists Ale, Lenton Lane Easy Peeler, Pheasantry Aurora, Dancing Duck Wot the Duck and Drone Valley Dronny Bottom Bitter. Can't remember what I paid for the drink but it was definitely reasonable. This is the kind of place I could imagine settling down for a cosy evening by the fire in winter. The bus stop is right outside, which takes you back into Chesterfield.

Will Larter left this review about Miners Arms
Another GBG pub, and only a short distance from the Travellers Rest, but it's as different as chalk and cheese; and given the presence of an extensive cheese board there, it's quite clear that this is the chalk. Or given the mining connotation of the pub name, coal. Five hand pumps (see photos) including one from local Dronfield Brewery, Dronny Bottom Bitter (NBSS 4), a really good traditional bitter. This pub is all about men drinking real ale and talking stridently about what men talk about, and if you don't like it there's another pub up t'road. I didn't see a price list and forgot to ask how much of a discount my Camra membership card got me (it was offered - I never ask) but I only paid £3.20 for a pint - a price I thought had been confined to the dustbin of history. Speaking of history, the carved bar front has to be seen to be believed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Miners Arms
Popular community pub, in the Good Beer Guide and winner of several local Camra awards. The interior has been opened out a bit, but it retains a traditional look with mostly undressed stone walls. An L-shaped bar area can be found in the centre, with a pool room on the left-hand side. A fair amount of outdoor seating, much under cover, can be found in the courtyard. Five real ales on handpump, including an excellent Dronny Bottom Bitter from the local Drone Valley Brewery (£3.40) and others from Acorn, Dancing Duck, Three Brothers and Pictish.
