In Eltham for an appointment so thought I would check out this place. It is a bit of a trek from the railway station for sure. Google maps tells me the next nearest bar / pub is more than a half a mile from here! Indeed you can hardly call this venue a bar / pub as it closes at 4pm each day and only stays open as far as I can tell a bit later than that on a Sunday afternoon to the late licence busting time if 6pm!! The building is well described on their website in terms of origins and why such an unusual building would find itself here on what is a very busy road. One of the more unusual road side diners I can say I have come across in the UK at least.
Beers wise there really isn’t much to offer. Only Moretti and Aspall cider on tap and just, on my visit, Corona in bottles after I assume a busy weekend cleaned them out of other bottle alternatives to the moribund tap offering.
Sort of glad I made the effort to visit this place oven I have passed in cabs many times and had a curiosity about the place. I had checked the offering out online previously so my incredibly low expectations truly met. There is quite a bit of residential in the immediate vicinity and given the lack of alternative quaffing options I would have thought this place could be viable at least second half of the week in the evenings - preferably with a more interesting beer range. I doubt if even free beer in that event would draw me back here though!! It’s not a 2 as whilst it has a worse beer offering than my current low point venue, it is a pleasant building and does have some potential (if I am really optimistic as I am sitting outside in the nice afternoon sunshine)!!
pS on settling up found that they will be open in the evenings Tue-Sat from 11 June!!! Given that might look in again in a few months to see how the offering looks then.

This is a somewhat out of the way cafe cum bar nowhere near a train station. Seemingly table service only, with the "wait to be seated" lectern just inside the front door, although I was told that I could sit anywhere. I obviously went for the table furthest away from the mums and babies table. I sat for a while, looked at the menu, and as nobody came to take my order Iwent to the bar to be told by the barman (or should that be barista?) that he would come and take my order - which he did straightaway. So, nothing much like a pub then.
There's no real ale of course with just Amstel and Birra Morretti (both £5.20 a pint) on tap, with a couple of 330ml Brockley Brewery bottled beers at £4.50 a pop. There are plenty of different coffees available and food seemed to be mainly breakfast like stuff - my BLT sarny was £7.50. Not that I was interested in drinking it, but the cheapest wine was some rose stuff at £24.50 a bottle.
The place was painted mainly navy blue, and furnished with cafe style normal tables and chairs. There's a lot of outside seating on the terrace, but it's a bit too near the busy main road to be truly comfortable outside.
This must have been a magnificent pub in its heyday with its marvellous Dutch style frontage. It's fine if you want an upmarket caff, but it's nothing like the pub it must have been. As an upmarket caff it's fine, but as a pub I would rank it quite low.
