White Cloth Hall is a food hall with a central triangular floored flagstone bar area where a serving counter sits on the rear wall. Seating is found up the left and right and also on mezzanines above that were roped off. There’s another bar near the entrance which I think specialises in wine and there are several dining options from curry to burgers to oriental. Premium and mainstream craft keg options where available from the main bar that also supports three hand pumps that were drawing TT Boltmaker, Kirkstall Brewery’s Dissolution IPA and Five Points Brewing’s Pale. The food was ok, but modest sized street food dishes seem to have become more expensive than a proper pub lunch, four dishes plus four pints, three of them soft drinks, was knocking on a £100. I didn’t think it was worth the money.

A large old building divided in two, the former Brewdog and another bit, the more alcoholic side being on the left as that’s where the better stocked bar is. That room is subdivided in two lengthways with the counter in the rear section with a couple of the various food vendors, the front area has one food vendor and low seating. Four handpulls with a couple of Taylor’s, a Five Points and one from Kirkstall. Obviously a few interesting kegs and a plethora of spirits. Mainly food oriented, but you can go in just for a drink as the door troll confirmed. Two unisex lavs upstairs with some more seating. If you know the Mackie Mayor complex in Manchester it’s the same sort of set up but on a much smaller scale.

Brewdog, as was, has merged with the old branch of Pizza Express, to create an all-day food and drink hall. Opens Friday 23.08.24.
