After a visit today this is one of the oddest pubs I've ever been to. On entry you are directed up stairs to the Retro Bar to the right and Findley's real ale bar to the left but what you miss on the way is the addition of a pizza/coffee bar and restaurant seating either side of the stairs on the way to the drinking areas, that coupled with accommodation also added into the mix.
On my visit we ventured to the Retro bar which had no real ale but contained a split level room with pool table upstairs and tall stools and tables focused on a couple of screens showing sports.
After sitting in this room prior to leaving we thought it would be worth taking the tour to the other bar and after passing the kitchen entrance which after further investigation appears to provide food to 4 different areas within the pub as well as offering a takeaway service to the town it leads up into a long narrow bar area with access to the rear garden and the location to where I guess the pianist and violinist perform with a number of small single width tables on the let hand side of the building adjacent to the bar.
The literature within the pub refer to it being CAMRA pub of the year for Frome and without being in them all at present but most of them I can see how this place would be a winner.
All in all a mixed and varied pub that I wasn't expecting when I opened the door and headed towards the bar today.

GRAVITY DISPENSED REAL ALES - WINES - CIDERS OPEN MIKE SESSIONS - FRIDAY MEAT DRAWS, LOYALTY CARDS. Come and enjoy a traditional pub with real ales and real pub values. Great beers and a real pub atmosphere. The Host Richard Findlay is passionate about the beers and making sure everyone feels welcome.
