Opened in 1969 by Bass Charrington as the Periscope, this pub underwent a refurbishment in 2005 under the ownership of Punch Taverns and changed its name to the Island Tavern. It has been closed since 2009 and currently looks a forlorn sight. It seems unlikely to reopen in the near future, if at all.
