Alan Winfield left this review about Sir Robert Peel
The Sir Robert Peel was a three storey pub that was hemmed in with Boots factories on three sides of it.
Once inside the pub had a drinking corridor and rooms off it,the seating and decor was fairly basic but this was a proper unaltered pub.
The pub was a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on the bar with both Shipstones bitter and mild being very nice drinks.
I have been in this pub on a fair few occasions and went down on its last night as we knew the landlord, this was a great night with the pub packed out.
The Sir Robert Peel was pulled down in the early 90s to make way for the Boots island development.
What a waste of a cracking pub like this.
Gone but not forgotten.
