Shack is a small single room open plan bar on a corner plot with slated blinds on the windows that gives a New York vibe. Booths, each with a small screen that was showing muted Olympics, run across the front windows and high tables are found in the centre of the room faced by a counter along the rear. A premium keg range and Carling were available from taps on the back bar from a very dismissive barman. More televisions on the walls were also airing muted Olympics while some excellent tunes from the 90s played in the background. There’s a basement bar that is advertised to be open Wednesday to Sunday, so it was closed during my recent Tuesday evening visit. I liked the vibe in here, even though I was the only customer. Maybe it would be a bit busier if the barman took his head out of his arse.

After a period of closure the Blue Pig has now reopened. From memory there were a couple of real ales, we went for the Blonde by Ticketybrew when visiting at the end of last month. Towards the end of the night so my memory is a little hazy. I do, however, remember that the Blonde was pretty nice.

A sort of bistro styled place. Had 3 handpumps but only 2 on. The ceiling is covered in chalk scrawl (or whatever they use).
