Strongers . left this review about Connolly's
Connolly’s is an L-shaped open plan Irish pub with an L-shaped bar counter to the left and banquettes that run along the front and rear walls to a stage on the right wall. Televisions are located throughout for showing live football, but these were muted whilst some background music played. The bar supports standard keg alongside Staropramen and Madri. There was a deal in operation during my recent midweek evening visit so I only paid £3 for a pint of Guinness. I’d just paid more than that for a half of 4.3% in BrewDog. One of the old guys at the bar leant over to me and whispered with his finger on his lips, “shhhhh, 6 pints for £18”. What a time to be alive! The service was very friendly and I liked it in here so would return.

Alastair Barter left this review about LIQR
LIQR has now closed - it’s now reopened under a new name. Connolly’s, an Irish theme bar. Checked it out yesterday - looked like it had just opened. Had a pint of Caffrey’s Irish beer for £4. Well worth it.

Colin Walker left this review about Libertine
A libertine is one devoid of most moral restraints, which are seen as unnecessary or undesirable, especially one who ignores or even spurns accepted morals and forms of behaviour sanctified by the larger society. This is a Victorian-style bar in the heart Merchant City, Formerly known as Merchant's House, The Libertine opened its door in late 2011 - its name was chosen through a competition, after the loose-moralled decadent 17th-century poet, John Wilmot, the 2nd Earl of Rochester. The bar is very bright all to do with windows that stretch from floor to ceiling. The feel of the place is cosy, antique feel with opulent wallpaper, aged leather seating, dark wooden features, stylish flooring and plush red features. There are various events on in the evenings such as quizzes, movie nights, open mic sessions and live music. There is a DJs on at the weekends. The bar has all the usuals along with some guest beers, ales, whiskeys and house cocktails. There is also live sports on. The prices for, Lager, Real Ale, Bottle of Lager or Cider are each £3.50. In the spirits department the costis from £3.00 for a double shot and mixer. Excellent food especially the burgers is available. Opening times for Mon to Sun are 11:00am till Midnight. The meal times are 12:00pm to 21:00.
