Close to the station and the wonky church, pargeting to the parapet indicates that this was once the White Swan until 2019.
The interior is largely modern, catering mainly for what would seem to be young people, the venue smelling strongly of short order food all to a rather raucous ambience.
There were 12 pumps with three pseudo ‘real’ ciders, me plumping for a half of Oakham Citra at a pricey – for Chesterfield - £2.30 and good.
Not too bad as part of a crawl and handy for the railway station, but I wouldn’t call this a destination pub in its own right.

Always good to see a pub reclaimed, and I thought this former Chinese restaurant was now functioning as a decent pub. I could imagine that the large one roomed high ceiling internal space could lack a bit of atmosphere when there is not many in, but on a Friday evening when the place was packed out, it was literally jumping.
Well named as a lot of people do come here to eat, but with the impressive row of 12 hand-pumps, which were dispensing nine ales and three ciders for our visit, it’s a very good pub just for a beer as well and should definitely be considered in any beer crawl of Chesterfield, especially given its proximity to the railway station.

A large ground floor pub in a sizeable building ,it's close to the station so a good place to start or finish a crawl.It was really busy at 7pm on a Friday evening.The entrance corridor has some seating,there is a raised area to the right with dining style tables and lighting provided by hanging chandeliers .Immediately infront of the bar are ranks of high tables but these as well as the dining type tables may have reserved signs on them ,thankfully with the time of the booking.A high shelf seperates the levels and was a resting place for the crawlers pints when we were forced by arrivals to drink vertically.
The handpumps on my trip were drawing Ossett White Rat,Oakham Citra and Bishops Farewell (NBSS 3.5),London Pride,Thornbridge Jaipur IPA,Ossett x Northern Monk Marple Red Ale,Titanic Plum Porter,Castle Rock Elsie Mo and Vocation Winter Bloom.There were three handpumped ciders.A very decent ale line up marks this out as a must visit on any real ale crawl,visiting at a quieter time would have enhanced the visit.I will call in again.
