Alan Winfield left this review about Withington Ale House
The Withington Ale House was a large landmark pub that was situated on a very busy road junction.
The pub was originally called the White Lion but on my visit here it was the Withington Ale house.
The pub looks very grand from the outside with a large turret and clock tower on top of it,once inside the pub was a lot more down at heel,i had a drink in a very large room that looked in need of attention.
This pub was no ale house has there was only one real ale on the bar which was John Smiths bitter which was on handpump and this was a pretty poor drink.
The pub was almost empty on a saturday dinner visit.
This pub is still standing but has now been converted into flats with a sainsburys store at ground level.
