I really liked this Spoons, especially when I got a superb pint of Reedley Hallows Pendleside 4% for £1.83 a pint. The interior deco was quite trendy around the main bar area, with turquoise walls, light and dark blue painted panelled bar front, plus oak counter. The main features were the ceiling cornice work and various displays dedicated to Frank Hornby such as a Meccano display cabinet in the front lounge along with a dinky car framed mirror. Other cask ales on my visit were Redemption Urban Dusk, InverAlmond Brewery Ossian and Wadworth Bishops's Tipple.

Wetherspoons don't have many pubs completely surrounded by suburbia but this is one of them. There are no shops within sight just semi-detached housing. As noted below, it's an original pub previously called the Everest which ties in with Tensing Road on the corner of which it resides.
Inside and out it's a fairly typical 20th Century suburban pub. Although it's now a single room it is split into different areas and the furnishings are better than average. Although it wasn't busy on my Wednesday afternoon visit there were some people in.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps which had two available soon, Orkney Red MacGregor, Swannay Scapa Special, Big Bog Swampy & Quagmire, Peerless Knee Buckler & Red Rocks, Brightside Manchester Skyline and Otter Bright. I thought this was a good choice and even better when I spotted that some were priced at £1.49 rather than £2.09. I went for the Quagmire (£1.49) Which was in first class nick. I thought this was a pretty good Spoons. It's GBG 2018 listed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Frank Hornby (JD Wetherspoon)
Traditional roadhouse-style pub when viewed from the road but given a bit of the 'spoons treatment inside (but not to detrimental effect). Features a variety of seating / dining areas around the bar, some with dark wood-panelling but otherwise relatively light in terms of decor. Patio seating area to one side. Ten, mostly interesting, real ales on handpump - including a fine pint of Broadside B-side (£2.09).
