Well I dont know why a real ale type drinker would be going in the Dog & Bear lol it was a busy (heaving) bar frequented by people that liked smarter places to drink with a few more pennies in their pockets was a great spot but got shut down after a stabbing, missed the old place for years afterwards

The Dog and Bear was a smallish pub that was situated on bridlesmithgate opposite bottle lane.
Once inside the pub had one room that was fairly small the room was carpeted and was more like a lounge bar.
The pub was a Bass tied house and i car'nt ever remember having a decent drink in here,we usually had a drink of keg Worthington bitter which was pretty crap.
I did'nt go i this pub that often because of the beer it had on.
Sadly the pub closed down in the early 90s and was turned into two shops.
