Despite the name and the fact this is a Hotel (primarily for workers at the docks Iwould imagine) it remains a local pub.

Set in a large Victorian building which dominates this area against the smaller terraces on the side streets it consists of two large bar/lounge areas. I first went about 10 years ago and from the picture I went in the left hand side of the building via the entrance off Clayton Street which today seemed more of a cafe/restaurant/bar for the hotel/local workers (cafe) and wasn't open (Saturday). So today I went to the right hand side which has a large open plan bar area which opens up into another large room.

Nice feel and atmosphere given the area adjacent to a dock boundary security fence. If I was to live in the area I'd probably call it my local as out of the 3 pubs in Avonmouth I prefer this one and was glad to see it still open.
