Small and very modern shop-conversion pub with a full-frontal glazed exterior. White oblong main bar with chequerboard banquettes and laminate flooring; up a ramp to a small seating area. GBG listed with four cask on from Rhymney, my Export was freezing cold like keg but in good nick nonetheless (NBSS 3.5), served-up by a pair of professional middle aged barmaids. Busy on mid-Saturday afternoon with a codger-heavy clientele, I had to stand at the bar. Serves the locale well even if it really is just a basic drinking shed. 6.5

A shop conversion which was surprisingly full of local pensioners in full flow of conversation, ignoring the pair of screens showing 'Bargain Hunt'. The one room has simple decoration, with a small raised level at the back (and a rather steep ramp to the disabled toilet). Ales are provided by the Rhymney Brewery.
