Well, this is a new one on me. A pub that had punters in the beer garden but was closed for lunch.

On the A38 - had a recent makeover (google maps shows this in progress). One of those pubs with "Real Ale, Quality Beers, Quality Food" painted on the side of the pub. Nice beer garden. Inside, set for dining and rather dark - but this may have been as it was so glorious outside.

Front door locked - with a sign saying "due to lack of staff, we close between 3pm and 4pm". Fine, its 2:50pm, so I walk around the back, through the patrons in the beer garden and to a closed up bar. Manager comes out and tells me the story but we do have an incredulous discussion about timekeeping and how hospitality can close for lunch.

So - no staff, few customers - a roadside pub trying to make a living for food that closes at lunch.

I'll check back on line at the end of the year and see if its still trading.
