This pub on the A490 not far from Welshpool is not so much hard to find as easy to miss. The road can be quite busy and the right hand bend in the village of Cilcewydd leads onto a straight section where some trees obscure the turn to the left for the pub, though there is an inn sign on the opposite side of the road. The pub stands back from the road, and if you don't slow down you'll just see a farmyard before you disappear into the distance. A sharp and careful turn will get you into a smallish space for car parking to the left in front of the pub, with more room further on. Once safely through the front door, there's a small room with a traditional interior and a TV screen, with a second room behind. The bar has two hand pumps with Wye Valley HPA and Sharps Doom Bar. My half of HPA was a little cold but tolerable, and was the equivalent of £3.70/pint. I had hoped that this would be a special pub, but the combination of small village, fast road and awkward turning probably limits the number of people that turn up, so expecting more than the limited beer offering that I found would be unrealistic.

A pub with the same name as my favourite in the country (its namesake being in Worth Matravers).
This one had a friendly landlady and a few local customers who had congregated outside at the front of the pub. A few more non-locals arrived afterwards. They were there for food.
Doom Bar & HPA were the real ales. Beware. The pub is easy to miss if driving here.
