Says ‘wine bar’ on the outside but inside is a about as regular pub as you can find, with no obvious emphasis on the vino beyond the fact they had more than a selection of 2 reds and 2 whites. Central chimney breast breaks up the two rooms. No cask, a so-so Guinness had to do as I watched England stink out the Euros further against a Swiss team who must still be wondering how the hell they let the game get away from them.

Old Boots left this review about The Village
A single story low ceiling place with exposed stone walls, built on a hill so there’s a smaller room to the right up a step or two and beside the counter there’s a tiny snug with a sign saying seating for 4 persons only. The main bar has a central chimney breast with a wood burner otherwise it’s open plan. A mix of seating round the walls at mostly chairs and tables with the odd bit of banquette. The counter is to the right in the main bar and offers a selection of usual suspect kegs but with a Latin focus, a wine rack to the side is the only hint of a wine bar. John Smiths smooth crap available here.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Village Wine Bar
The Village Wine Bar is more like a pub than wine bar.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room to the left which is bare boarded, there is some comfy bench seating to the front with bucket chairs and small stools, the serving bar is in the middle area of the pub where there is one tall tables and chairs, the right side is up a few steps, this area is carpeted and has normal table and chairs.
There are no real ales on the bar which is a shame,i had a drink of Tetley smooth flow which was a pretty poor drink.
Decent background music was playing, the pub serves food and this looked quite nice.
This is a decent and comfortable pub that had a good mix of drinkers and diners, you can also drink anywhere here, there are no tables laid out for diners.
