With just time to visit one place in Ardrossan, we had a swift one at the Lauriston Hotel. Overlooking the sea, this is a nicely appointed place with a smallish bar and larger dining room with the sea views. There is a car park to the rear.

Real ale is no longer served here (Scotland really does seem to be going backwards in this respect). This left a selection of Guinness, Worthington's, Aspalls, Coors, Staropramen or Madri. Another disappointment. If you're here for the ferry, head straight to the port!
