Old Boots left this review about The Discovery
A former Yates apparently, a modern looking corner building in the main shopping street near the bus station. I suspect it is actually an older building with extensions and strap on bits. It’s on two floors the upper being a mezzanine. On my visit it was full of middle aged and older smoggie males rather than the yoof of the boro. Standard sort of place with carpet in the sitting areas and laminate at the counter and entrances, high seating by the counter, low tables and chairs further away. The usual piped music, screens and machines are all present and correct. What décor there is comprises old photos and corporate ad’s with the odd print thrown in, more of it at the Newport St end. One end is raised a little with I think a DJ booth. The most surprising thing was the presence of six hand pumps among the usual forest of keg solos and T-Bars, only one running with a reasonable if not outstanding Double Maxim on.

Typical Yates's place. No real ale, just keg and full of lowlifes.
