Part of the Rowardennan Hotel, this has a large pseudo hunting lodge look - high ceiling, black beams, exposed stone wall and mounted stag heads. Terrible piped music and pretty much a food operation, however the lack of general cleanliness would put me off eating. No ale and a crap fridge, so Tennants sufficed. Also a massive overcharge on halves, £2.45 v £3.85pp served up a surly barmaid with as many tattoos as Amy Winehouse. The only saving grace is the patio garden with a rather arresting view of Loch Lomond. 3.5

David Ross left this review about The Clansman Bar (Rowardennan Hotel)
This is part of the Rowardennan Hotel, in the small village of the same name, but has a village pub atmosphere to it. The Hotel dates back to 1696, although most of the current building is much more modern. An extensive bar, with a wide range of beers, is complemented by a large beer garden, including a children’s play area, stretching down the shore of Loch Lomond. The drawback here, during the summer, is the midges, which infest the area, especially in the evenings. The bar is on the West Highland Way long distance footpath and a sign at the door says that dogs, walkers and muddy boots are welcome. Dogs, however, must be kept on leads in case they fight with the hotel’s chickens. There are other bars, and a restaurant, in the Hotel, but the Clansman is the best place to eat and drink.
