When I first drank in here in the 70's, it was called The Bradford Arms. It changed its name to The Little Bradford because of The Bradford Hotel (Big Bradford!) round the corner on Mill Street. Then it was modernised and opened out in "cafe" style with stainless steel tables and chairs and renamed the Why Not! The new owners had big plans like putting an airoplane behind the pub for use as a restaurant. It then put up a spirited fight to avoid CPO and demolition but inevitably lost out to the new ASDA superstore

The Little Bradford was a smalish pub on the busy ashton new road and it looked not too bad from the outside with its white painted walls.
Once inside the pub was a bit dowdy with some very old carpets and seating.
The pub said Tetley free house outside and there were two real ales on here i had a drink of Tetley bitter and this was quite a nice drink the other beer was Boddingtons bitter.
This was a decent enough pub but it has now sadly been pulled down and there is a massive asda store standing behind where this pub was.
Yet another east Manchester pub consigned to history.
