Steve of N21 left this review about Crown Inn
The Crown Inn is another famous Elizabethan hotel in Old Amersham which provides a bar with a High Street entrance for the public. It is run by the same company that own and manage the charming Kings Arms just up the road, but here they have clearly utilised interior design techniques to move this one a bit more upmarket. And although I have to say a quite superb job has been done to not lose any of the historic character it was all a bit corporate and the other people in seemed to be hotel guests sitting on their PC’s and tablets. Hence I didn’t enjoy a beer here half as much as I did in the Kings Arms.
Which was a shame because they do a good job on the beer front in offering a couple of local ales which were Rebellion IPA (granted not that rare in this part of the world) and the seasonal Summer Daze from the Malt Brewery microbrewery from nearby Great Missenden.
Nice job, but if you only have time for one ale in a characterful historic hotel bar, then the Kings Arms has it for me.
