Back street pub, newly reopened and refurbished after a long period of closure. A few people in, though the bunch of gelled-up middle-class male plonkers at the bar were rather off-putting and certainly were not going to help the food trade which the owners are clearly aiming at. A charisma-free zone inside, it has been opened-out with laminate flooring and painted walls but little else of any real note. Car park over the road features a life-sized Pingu which was probably the most memorable part of the visit. A couple of ales on, my West Berks GOB was, in fairness, pretty good. It feels a bit cruel to be harsh given that a previously written-off pub has been re-opened but I struggled to feel any love for the place. It was just so dull.
