Blackthorn _ left this review about Whitehall Tavern

A rather imposing looking street corner pub painted in a very dark shade of brown and black, it’s not the most attractive place perhaps, but nonetheless looks more inviting than some of the other graffiti riddled options nearby.

Internally it almost looks like an old country pub in some ways, with plenty of black beams on the ceiling and exposed brickwork on the walls, as well as some areas of black wood cladding. It’s a reasonable sized, L-shaped pub, with a courtyard garden at the rear. Flooring was sanded wooden boards, whilst a few old prints were dotted around the walls. A bank of fruit machines was opposite the bar counter and there was a pool table at the rear, as well as a darts board and a large screen TV on the wall, but this didn’t seem to dominate and it certainly felt more like a cosy pub than a sports bar. A number of imitation Banksy prints were on the wall at the rear, and whilst the pub was largely empty on our mid-week afternoon visit, all the punters who were there seemed to be sat at stools around the bar counter, making it somewhat difficult to get to.

The solitary beer on offer was Butcombe Original, with a second pump doubled up and a third for Tribute appearing to have run out. Ciders meanwhile were Cheddar Valley and Blackthorn.

The Whitehall Tavern looks the business,a shit hole of the highest order,so could not wait to go inside.
Once inside there is a single l shaped room which is bare boarded, the bar is on the rear right side, there are pew seats in bays to the front right and a darts board to the right, the left side has pew seats and chairs, there is another darts board to the rear left, the rear area is down one step and is oblong shaped, there was a pool table and normal tables and chairs to the left here.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Wickwar Bob,which was a very nice drink, the other real ale was Courage Best.
Background music was playing.
I though this was a decent pub to have a drink in and the Wickwar Bob was only £2 a pint or £1 for my half.
