A roadside inn which has been refurbished in recent years. It sits on the former main road and has thankfully been bypassed by the A303 making it quite a pleasant spot despite the road noise. There is a small pub garden and a large, empty field behind it, while the parking at the front is limited. There is a small paved terrace by the road, though this is a non-smoking area. The inside consists of a small bar at the front, through which you enter to find a larger dining room behind, and there is supposed to be a function room but we didn't see it. Both rooms have been refurbished well and are pleasant and comfortable. There is a woodburner, though it isn't really needed. Dog food can be bought over the bar, or they offer a 3 course meal for dogs so they can dine with you. The staff were very welcoming, though the locals were a bit cliquey. Two ales, Butcombe's Bitter and Fine Tuned Sunshine Reggae, plus Heritage cider on draft. The ales were in fairly decent condition. They also have their own branded wines. The clientele were mainly diners, and there weren't many chairs in the bar area. Worth stopping for lunch or dinner on the way through.

To be honest I haven't been here in a while - it used to be either completely empty or full with pissed naval ratings from the nearby HMS Heron at Yeovilton, but the place has changed hands since then..
