Strongers . left this review about Glastonbury Hotel
Hotels and their bars are ten a penny in Eastbourne and although the vast majority welcome non-residents they do not openly advertise it. The Glastonbury Hotel does have a sign above the door stating that non residents are welcome which is why I chose to add this particular hotel to Pubsgalore whilst omitting the others. I’ve walked past this place on many occasions and the separate bar entrance has always been closed, until I managed a visit early last Saturday evening. Upon entering I was confronted by a large open plan room full of seating and a reception desk to the left rear and a small bar to the right of the entrance. It was very busy with an aging crowd of hotel guests as the holiday season is in full swing and I kid you not that the plasma screen on the wall was showing an old WWII film which was being watched by nearly all. The bar is stocked with Surger Guinness, Courage Best Smooth, Boddingtons, Stella 4 and Carling. I went for half a Carling that was no dearer than the local pubs and politely served. As I was leaving a bloke was unloading some speakers from the back of his van so I’d imagine that there was some entertainment booked for the evening. There are a couple of tables out the front with views of the beach and sea over the road, but they were both being used by people that I assumed were waiting for a cab and had no intention of stepping into the bar.
Like the décor I found this place to be very tiring and if I was a guest I would drink elsewhere. My rating is for the hotel bar and not the actual hotel which I have no knowledge of.
