Popular student hang out. Triangular shaped with variety of seating in front part before the pub divides with the bar along the right-hand wall of the left-hand fork! Curious Jägermeister bar as a pre cursor to main bar but not manned on my visit. Wooden floor throughout with some areas with lino! Right hand fork opens out into a large seating area with big projector screen not on during my visit and a darts area. Some booth seating in various parts of the pub. There is a beer garden out the back that has some covered seating. Plenty of screens on the walls so easy to catch the sporting action heavily advertised in the venue wherever you are seating. Upper parts of the walls decorated with big 6-Nations flags so not surprising this is a big rugby pub.
No cask. Two hand pumps both turned round so unclear if functional but just unlucky! Given the studenty vibe of this place was always going to be heavy on lager and cider. The keg choices were lagers (Coors, Madri, Amstel, Moretti, Carling & Fosters), ciders (Inch’s and the regular and dark fruits versions of Strongbow), Guinness, John Smiths and the non-crafty Neck Oil plus Laine’s Sonar.
Was keen to give it a try as have passed this corner pub many times but never popped in. Would probably be a decent place to watch sport but beer choices a bit below par for me, although the Sonar is a decent pint.
