This is a Craft Union pub, and considerably busier than the Crown nearby. On entering there is a small room on the right which is easily missed, and when I approached the bar counter in the main room, itself seemingly transformed from several much smaller rooms, I could see a couple of hand pumps in there. So I went around to see what was on, but soon left the room due to the attentions of the dog belonging to one of the men in there. When I got back to the original bar, I noticed that the hand pumps were repeated on the sloping top of the box that shields the till from possible exploration. Anyway, there was Rat Brewery's White Rat and a raspberry and chocolate stout, Abbeydale's Salvation. I swerved the latter, despite the offer of a taster, and found my half of Rat to be in very good condition and just fine. This is a friendly, comfortable and well run pub.

According to what pub the place should now have real ale on but there was none in the main room and in all fairness did not venture into the taproom. Called in around noon and noticed a group of 4 boisterous middle aged men sat round a table F---ing and jeffing every other word. This would normally not bother me in the slightest but there was a young boy of about 5 years old sat with them.I found this quite disturbing and and even more so when the barmaid let them carry on regardless.Did not stop long in this one
