Obviously an Antic pub the moment you walk in. Shabby chic interior which in reality is a bit of a dump. Large plain front area, bar in a middle section through a pulled back curtain and all very gloomy and under-lit. Beyond is a formal dining area through a wood and glass divider. Usual charity shop tat nailed to the walls. Attempts to make the bar look like a stage doesn't really work. Four ales on from Twickenham, Volden, Arbor and Siren; which perhaps in a nod to the local competition, were under 4 quid a pint. My Twickenham Red was in good nick and I got a ‘cheerio’ from behind the bar. As a pub experience this one left me cold but at least the beer and service were up to muster.

Rex Rattus left this review about The John Jakson
I had thought that this pub might have been named after one of the finest goalkeepers to grace the old First Division, John Jackson of the mighty Eagles. However, it seems that this John Jakson was an immigrant worker on the lavender fields that used to exist in this area. But the landlord didn’t know what claim to fame inspired someone to name a pub after him.
Anyway, they had a couple of ales on – Jennings Cumberland and some Oyster Stout. There was no sign of any food or menus during my Wednesday lunchtime visit. According to London Drinker, this pub is part of the Marston’s pubco estate. Nonetheless, it’s nothing special. With only small windows at the front not much natural light gets to the back, making it a bit gloomy. The flooring’s a mix of bare boards and patterned carpeting, and furnishings are black plastic covered chairs, and fairly standard tables. The ceiling is covered with large flags of the world didn’t help, and I found it all a bit cheap I’m afraid. However, there was a raised at the back on the left with a pool table and dartboard. The pub’s not really my cup of tea, but the Cumberland was OK.
