Cafe bar type place, mostly set out for dining and with opaque opening hours. I managed to find it open and had a swift Landlord, fortunately it’s round the corner from the bus station. Five pulls but only Landlord or Ossett Blonde on offer, I went for Landlord and it was poor; one of the six keg lagers, Jaipur or one of the three ciders or even Guinness may have been a better choice. A basic brick box with a side aisle, eclectic mix of furnishings reflecting the multiple use, worthy of damnation are the stools with rotating tops, what spawn of the devil thought that was a good idea? If I owned this place a pack of four inch nails would sort that out! Flag floor (new),badly stuffed pheasants, rabbit heads on old posters, Edison lamps in bottomless demi-johns are just a few of the decor notes I observed. I suppose you may have guessed I thought the place pretentious. Be advised the gents has no lock, I thought I might have to do a “Frank Hovis” impression if someone entered, it may of course be to stop immoral behaviour whither self abuse or some other abomination, who knows in the East Riding?

Called in around 11am on a Tuesday morning, mainly because all the others had not opened which was a bit surprising to say there was a market on.The place is a cafe bar type although there were 4 cask pumps on the bar(3 functioning)and quite a few customers already in

Much needed addition to the Pocklington drinking scene, courtesy of Julian Richer of Richer Sounds fame. Stocks the local new star on the brewing block - Brass Castle as well as other local brewers such as Wold Top.
