Whistle Trago is unrecognisable since its transformation from its previous incarnation, Revolver. Out the front is some café seating under an awning and posters in the window advertise £5 Paninis that are available until midnight and live music at the weekend. The TV was switched off and I spotted no signs of live sport advertised, but there was some chilled background music playing.

The interior consists of random seating and a very high bar in the right hand corner. Four premium draught lagers are available alongside Stowford Press cider and Guinness. There are also two hand pumps that were drawing Long Man Brewery’s Copper Hop and APA. There is also a large wine and cider list. The only food I saw advertised was the aforementioned Paninis.

I couldn’t get comfortable in here even though I was the only customer for most of my visit. The welcome was also lacklustre. There are better places to drink in Hastings, but I have upped my previous rating from three to a five.

The Revolver is an internet café bar that has a leaning more towards the ‘bar’ side of things as there is live music on Tuesdays and Sundays and there is a quiz on Wednesdays. It’s not the biggest place and the draught selection from the bar is limited with four premium lagers and Seacider being available alongside Surger Guinness which I feel isn’t worth the money. If I wanted to drink a warm can of Guinness I would have stayed at home. There is a cocktail menu and extensive vodka menu and an enthusiastic barman was mixing a few drinks during my visit. I decided to have a Staropramen which the barmaid either didn’t know how to pour or she couldn’t be bothered to do it properly as it was slopped onto the bar with nearly an inch of head that didn’t even reach the top of the glass. The seating is made up of small sofas and low tables and there are some leaning shelves around the walls that had some high stools pushed under them. There is a quiz machine and plasma screen that was turned off, I saw no sign of Sky Sports. I think that this place prides itself on being cool/vibrant and the music was certainly funky which used to go down well with me when I was a student. The £5 pizza deal that any self-respecting student bar has was also present.

I’d rather be in a pub with a dartboard than a bar with a computer so I cannot see a return visit.
