This food-led pub is situated just off the A1 in the village of Newton-on-the-Moor. We were lucky to secure a table in the main bar area, with its real fire. The pub is much bigger than it seems, with a few different rooms.
Most tables in all areas were reserved for Sunday lunches.
3 real ales were on - First & Last Stell & Red Rowan & Westgate Atlantic Hop. The Stell was an enjoyable stout.
A much better pub than I had been expecting.

This four star AA listed Inn is most definitely worth a visit. Both staff and locals alike are very friendly. This large Inn offers excellent food which is sourced from their own farm. I've eaten here several times and am always more than satisfied. I tend to go for the sirloin steak, hand cut chips and veg with a peppercorn sauce. They serve excellent house wine and the hand pulled ale is well kept. Will return.
