Tris C left this review about 1949 Bar
This was originally a pub called the Royal Exchange dating from 1856 and rebuilt in the current Brewers' Tudor style probably in the '20s or '30s. Its name was changed to Fake Club in 2007, then 1949 Bar in 2012; it closed not long after. Reviewed as Fake Club, I stuck my head in here around 2011 and found it not to be an inviting place. The windows were bricked up and loud music was punctuated by flashing coloured lights and at least one mirror ball. The crowd seemed to be very young and Russian, with women wearing very little; all seemed to be drinking cocktails. The looks which I attracted told me all I needed to know, so I retreated to other local hostelries which I found to be comparatively sane compared to this place.
