After a walk with my daughter up the nearby Cnicht, I fancied a pint. Just a hill of 2,227 feet, which seems more challenging than 691 metres, somehow; it is dismissed by Wiki as "in reality, a long ridge", but the struggle to the summit in strong, blustery winds was also a reality. It felt like a pretty decent mountain to me, my first "new" peak since turning 70: surely that deserves a pint?
And so here we were in this tiny village with two names. The pub is very attractive in its white walls with tourquoise trim, and the inside has copious wooden fixtures, most of them seeming fairly modern, though the floorboards were prepared to argue about that. There were three hand pumps with two local beers, and I went for the Porth Neigwl IPA by Cwrw Llŷn, from Nefyn near Pwlleli. This was a pleasant drink in very good condition (NBSS 4, £4/pint) with an unusual flavour that reminded me of lychees. (The other beer was Cwrw Nant Aur y Felin, or Mill Gold, which I'd drunk earlier this year in a pub in Llanrwst.) The woman who served us was also pleasant, though a little distracted by her son setting off on a motorbike, and who could blame her.
This used to be a Robinsons pub but is now community owned (see Facebook and the link to the share offer website). Camping and motorhome stopovers are available. Maybe I should come back with my tent and tackle some more of those hills.

I haven't been to this pub for nearly 25 years so can't really rate it, but it is in the most beautiful location by the side of a country lane.
Lovely.
