Largely unchanged since I was last here, the beer quality was better, still not convinced the number of taps is sustainable here. Eight pulls of cask beer plus three with various cidery drinks, a reasonable selection of, I think 14, European kegs among some dross plus cans and bottles, four Castle Rock beers on today. Not the worst pub in this burgeoning area but still far from the best. Anyone tried a 10% Imperial Coconut & Pecan Pastry Stout @£6.70 for 2/3 pint? S43 make one called Schitthott- geddit?

A traditional pub, once owned by Banks's but now Castle Rock. The Banks's sign is hung by the bar, with the name "Peggers"; the young bar manager told me this was the pub's name before it closed down for 15 years. When Castle Rock bought it, they found that it used to be called the Fox & Grapes before that, so they revived the original name. The bar had 11 hand pumps at the time of my visit, with four real ciders available, and six real ales: five Castle Rock and a guest from Burton Bridge. My half of Preservation was in very good nick. Service was friendly and the food was appreciated by a group of young women on a nearby table: as well as the home made soup they enjoyed so much, there were also burgers, pizzas and nachos.

Fine pub, again associated with the Castle Rock brewery.

13 odd hand pulls on - I went for an excellent Jaipur on cask.

Pizzas and other "street food" available. Nachos recommended.

Excellent collection of whiskies.

Friendly staff.
