A short walk from the town centre it’s a corner pub opposite Tescos. Entering through the side door into a vestibule with “bar” to the left and “lounge” to the right on the 1930s etched glass doors, it doesn’t matter as any dividing wall is long gone. The bar has a pool table and a bare counter, into the former lounge and it’s a standard older pub layout of banquettes down the side at rectangular wooden tables plus a separate table or two, chairs not stools are provided. Carpet and laminate floors, very little decor but there’s a screen in each bar, darts in the lounge as well as the door through to the toilets. The beer choice is determinedly prosaic, cask choice of Doombar and Hobgoblin Gold, which was ok, pull 3 was unclipped, a T-bar and some solos give you four different lagers, a cider, Guinness and John Smiths Smooth, a couple of taps were unused, how sad. Friendly enough back street boozer although it’s on a main road.
