I've been meaning to include this on a trip around Derby for some time, but it opens quite late so it's quite difficult to fit in. In fact I arrived a couple of minutes before opening time, and joined a local outside the still-locked door. It finally opened at 7.05pm and we both piled in. The first thing I noticed was the real fire - they must have got that started quite a bit earlier as the place was roasting.
This was the last pub on an 11 pub crawl, so my notes were necessarily skimpy. Fortunately my camera tells me there were four hand pumps with one cider and three ales, one of them from the house microbrewery: Rowditch Full Flower Moon 4.8%. Someone did tell me what the name of the beer was all about, but I had forgotten probably before a sip of it had touched my lips. Oh well, there's always next time.
