An interesting and impressive building set back from the road on the edge of town. (Follow the link to WhatPub for a detailed description.) In the same ownership as Bowland Brewery, so there's always one of their beers on the bar. At the time of my visit this was Hen Harrier, but unfortunately it was not fit to drink. The barman apologised, saying it must be at the end of the barrel, as the lines had just been cleaned (which they have done professionally at regular intervals). I went for the Saltaire Blonde, which is a poor substitute, but when he had changed the barrel he brought me half a glass of the Hen Harrier as a consolation and it was spot on. It was very quiet here, partly because it was a midweek afternoon in January, but also because they don't do food here at lunchtime. (This is a wedding venue, so it is sometimes not open to the public.) It is very pleasant here and I wouldn't mind coming again, but I always go to the Talbot Arms whenever I'm in Settle, so perhaps not.
