I had been looking forward to reviewing this place for a while but sadly this turned out to be a catastrophicly bad pub far worse than I could have ever foreseen. A former Shipstons pub that later became a rare Oakwell pub before the brewery closed in 2013. Now an indipendant free house that does sell real ale which was the cause of my initial attraction. Upon entering the thief is a main bar and two seppwrate large rooms with further seating and a pool table. The bar stretches between the front two rooms and is divided by a wall. A are boards floor and a modern style shiny stride wall paper give it a strange old with modern cheap Cover up that looks like there have been many cover ups over the years but nothing substantial, just tacky spruce up after spruce up.
three hand pulls on the bar with two in operation on my visit, and was told a third is usually available on weekends. I opted for a pint of Alderhaw old copper and this was vinegar!! I asked the barman how long it had been on and was told "not long"!! so I instructed him to smell and taste it which he did but said he had a cold and could not detect bad flavours but offers to change it!! just admit you fault and be graceful about It! I changed it for a Toll gate spooky dark IPA which was a very complex beer hat I thought tasted funny, after half a pint I realise that (not to the same extent) that this was too sour and vinegar but disguised by the halls and dark flavours and was u finishing early even at a cheap £2.70 so was part half drank. Place completely empty on a Wednesday evening. Utterly disappointed with this place, a total lacklustre effort and all round crap pub, avoid!

This pub is on a very busy road and close to the victoria shopping centre but the wrong side of it to attract shoppers.
The Foresters is a three roomed pub that is a locals pub,i went in the first room you come to there is another room at the back and if you go up a few steps from the bar there is another room there.
The pub was clean and well furnished and looked as though it had just been done up.
There were two real ales on the bar both from Barnsley brewery i had a drink of Barnsley bitter this was very nice and was only £1.66 a pint the other beer was Oakwell mild.
There was irish music playing which i dont like and the barmaid was a man.
When i left here the few people that were in here said bye.
I was quite happy having a drink in here and would go in again.

A plain white rendered, yet tidy looking corner pub.
The interior has three rooms, though I didn’t see the small room up the stairs and the lounge, which was in a chocolate and cream decor had the lights turned out at my visit, so I saw little of that. The main bar room is accessed via the main door and the serving bar faces you. It is an L-shaped room in red and white walls and ceiling, with some patterned wallpaper and a wood floor. There wasn’t much in the way of pictures on the walls or ephemera lying around. There was no TV that I saw and the music was general and at a decent level. The service was very friendly and the pub was populated by locals, some rather loud, as well as a nice lady we chatted to who was also doing some of the MILD trail pubs.
Beer; Oakwell’s Barnsley Bitter and their decent Dark MILD on handpull, with Oakwell Lager on keg along with the ubiquitous Guinness and Strongbow.
The pub was fine and it was really nice to try Oakwells again after a year or so. Worth popping into for the change and one I would definitely go back to.
