Rural pub overlooking rolling fields in the Peak District. There is an L-shaped main bar as you enter, with a smaller room and toilets off to the left. A few people were arriving for lunch on our midweek visit, along with a few people checking into the pub's campsite, which is clearly popular year-round. Others were in for a quick drink whilst on a ramble. We were in for a quick drink to start a pub crawl!
A couple of real ales were on - Marston's Pedigree & Stancill No. 7. A number of handpulls were left unused.

Situated in a quiet village in the pleasant but not spectacular White Peak area of the national park, the Waterloo is an unpretentious village local with a caravan park attached. The bar counter with its five hand pumps is adjacent to a chimney with a small open fire, which the person serving was trying to encourage to burn a little brighter. It was a cold day, which I felt all the more because I'd been sitting on a draughty bus to get here, but she had been sitting on a beach in Malta the day before, so I reckon her need was greater. The bar counter, a modest wooden affair with hooks, has five hand pumps, with to be honest not much to shout about in terms of choice and interest (see photo) but my half of Black Sheep was in really good condition. I wouldn't mind coming back here in the summer, as this looks like good cycling country.

A room round the back makes this place bigger than it looks. Three real ales but nothing of any strength. Nice fire for all the hikers that were in on early Saturday afternoon.
