A decent sized freehouse, with a large lounge area running along the front of the pub, with numerous seating options and a modest sized bar running along the back wall. The décor was patterned wallpapered walls throughout, in various shades of grey, chocolate brown coloured banquette seating and carpeted throughout. The back of the pub also had a gin bar, along with a rear patio garden cider bar. Six handpumps with four in use, serving Bass, Oakham Citra, TT Landlord and Dancing Duck. We went for the Oakham Citra, which was in top notch condition.

Bar with open plan interior and real ales available from Thornbridge, Sadlers, Timothy Taylor plus Directors. We enjoyed our Landlord in the beautiful garden area at the back. There is a separate cider bar where they have 10 to 14 ciders available.

A handsome brick building, dated 1879. I was doing a cycling trip around here and timed my arrival just right, approaching the front door just as the young woman on duty was opening it. The inside has been opened up to some extent, with pillars replacing walls, but it's still a pub rather than a drinking barn. To confirm this, there's a small fireplace in the exposed brick chimney breast to the left of the bar. The bar itself is of stained wood panelling, and has hooks and stools, as well as six hand pumps. (See photos.) I went for the Bass, which was in good condition. There is a separate bar for ciders. I liked it here and if I lived in this part of Derbyshire I'm sure I would become a regular visitor.
