A stone-built roadside pub near the bridge. There's a large main room with the bar centrally placed, with smaller rooms leading off at either end, one to the left with no doorway, one to the right accessed through an archway. There's a fairly ordinary fireplace at the right hand end of the main room, but I can't really comment on the decor because the whole place was covered in cobwebs and skeletons for a Halloween party to take place that evening.
On the bar are four hand pumps with just three ales on from the Marstons stable: Hobgoblin, Pedigree and Cumberland, almost exactly the same as the Wheatsheaf along the road, but considerably cheaper. It was quite pleasant here, with some colour photos of Peak District scenes on the walls, except that "Smooth Radio" was playing at unignorable volume. This may be right up someone's street, but I'm afraid I just find it irritating.
