A smallish village local that has been extended at some time into the next door cottage, so that it now appears surprisingly long. There's a dining room to the left on entering, and a games room with pool and darts to the right. There are three hand pumps, on which were two beers at the time of my visit: Magpie Jay IPA and Burneside Burp 4.2% (apparently a house bitter, but I couldn't find out who brews it; possibly it was Clarks Merrie City Crystal Gold - see my review of Black Swan in Kendal town centre). The outstanding feature of the pub is the magnificent wooden bar counter, with brass rails for both elbow and foot.
