The left-hand side of the Three Kings is a restaurant, so I made my way into the carpeted right-hand side where a stool lined serving counter runs across the rear adjacent to a log burner in a fireplace on the left-hand wall where a coffee table and a couple of armchairs sit. There are some small tables across the front windows opposite the counter and to the right is more dining seating. There was some background music playing for the benefit of me and a couple of young trades who were sat chatting with the barmaid, I took them to be locals. Premium keg was available and the three hand pumps were badged with Greene King’s Abbott Ale, IPA and Genevieve, although the latter was off. I decided to have some lunch, so went for the fish pie that was obviously microwaved and wasn’t that great. The service was polite, but I just didn’t get a good vibe, which is maybe unfair seeing as I visited on a midweek afternoon. I also used the accommodation facility, my room was very good, and I’d consider staying here again, but I’d probably give the pub a swerve next time.

We stopped at the Three Kings on a outing on a Friday night. The outside is well kept (see picture), and the inside is beautiful as well. The beers on tap were cold and there was a nice selection. We struck up a conversation easily with the bartender and a local patron, making this pub a "must return often" in our book. I can't say enough about this nice pub.. if you are in the Bury St. Edmunds area, pop in the postal code into your Sat Nav and stop by for a pint.
