I was very disappointed to find that this place had been turned into a “gastro pub,” with the majority of tables set for food and most customers eating. I remember it as a popular old fashioned bar when I lived in the area a few years ago and I can‘t imagine why they’ve changed it. A couple of real ales were on sale, but both food and drink are on the expensive side for the area. It’s nice enough if you like these sort of places, but, to me, the conversion has destroyed it’s character.

Excellent pub with good food but expensive in comparison to nearby pub/restaurants very busy at weekends
