Country house-style hotel, pub and restaurant with a large beer garden and children's play area adjacent to a large car park.

The entrance corridor has the hotel reception to the right-hand side, with the small but popular public bar to the left. A large dining room can be found to the rear.

Just the one cask ale was on, but this was an enjoyable beer called Summerisle from Five Kingdoms. What I found particularly pleasing here was the welcoming nature of the bar staff. Scottish pubs seem a bit behind the times when it comes to allowing children in pubs, which can deter from the experience. Although I appreciate that many pub-goers would prefer there to be no kids. My 11-year-old was made to feel welcome and the barman even allowed him to pour in the mixer to my wife's gin!

Probably the best place to drink in Newton Stewart.
