Located just off the main drag and looking like a row of terraced houses, the Travellers Rest sits beside a large car park, most of which has been turned into a picnic table seating area. There were three or four people sat outside in the sun, which was about the same amount of people who were inside the pub during a recent Thursday early evening visit. To the right of the entrance is a small raised seating area that overlooks a mix of stools and bucket seats that run up the right-hand wall. The bar counter runs up the left where it also serves a games area with a pool table and dartboard up the left wall. More seating is found at the rear where there’s also a stage which would be used for the advertised regular Friday and Saturday DJ nights. The ‘please don’t dance on the furniture’ sign gave a clue to what it’s like in here on a weekend night. Televisions throughout were airing Olympics via BBC, TNT Sport is advertised for the football. In the right-hand side of the pub is a room full of garden furniture that is overlooked by a large television. I found the pub to be comfortable and the service was polite, but only standard and premium keg were available. I’m not sure that I’d make the detour off the main road to visit again.
