Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Tennents

Never previously called in at this pub, erroneously assuming that it had something to do with the eponymous local brewery. However, venturing in this time, we found an impressive Victorian corner pub with tall windows under a high ceiling. Right by the university so understandably busy with a mostly younger clientele. However, with all eight handpumps in use, it was very disappointing not to find a single Scottish cask ale on, let alone a local one. Grumpily made do with a half of Landlord Dark before moving on.

Will Larter left this review about Tennents

This was the next stop on our Glasgow pub research trip after the Lismore and Three Judges, and initial impressions were good, with an interesting exterior to the building and a busy yet not unpleasant Friday afternoon atmosphere once inside. A glance at the beer offering on the bar was a surprise, though: not one single cask beer out of seven was brewed in Scotland. The line up consisted of Jaipur, Wainwright, Bass, Landlord and Landlord Dark, Purity Mad Goose and Sharps Twin Coast. No doubt they feel there is a market for English beers in a pub near the university, but for English pub goers on a trip to foreign parts, this display was a bit jarring. My half of Bass was good enough without being outstanding (NBSS 3, £4.50/pint), but I wouldn't be tempted to return here the next time Glasgow beckons.

On a street corner and very close to the university,it has a classic exterior, while the interior has at some stage been opened out although there are some features such as the rear wall panelling. The high ceiling helps gives some atmosphere, but the modern lino on the floor looked too functional.Lots of seating around the perimeter, there is also a side snug with a few seating booths.
Stories on the walls on this being men only until the late 70's stretch credulity, although I can imagine the university objecting to it's opening in the 1880's.
It's in the 2022 GBG,but I had heard stories of a boring ale range ,so saddened when on ordering my Oakham Citra it ran out.Darkstar Hophead (NBSS 2.5)was not a great replacement but better than the other options Fullers London Pride and Doom Bar.The one interesting ale was Titanic Plum Porter which I declined as this was the start of a very big crawl. However for that alone I would give decent marks,so this place just about makes it on a West End pub crawl list.
