This place was relocated to the Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum in 1981/1982 from central Walsall. It’s a multi-roomed basic place and, to quote WhatPub, “is a rare remaining example of what used to be a very common pub design and layout”. Obviously you can only access the thing by paying to enter the museum which I did on a day out with a friend and their sprogs. I’ll let my photos do the talking as far as the décor goes, suffice to say it’s pretty straightforward but has plenty of character and Ale Monster’s florid description from 12 years previous obviously still stands. It functions as a pub and beer is now supplied by Hobsons with two of their cask on the go plus a couple of keg including their stout. The taciturn (presumably ‘in-character’?) landlord gave us a potted history of his experiences of the place over the last 30 years he’s been running it – fair to say some working features have been lost due to ‘elf an’ safety, much to his chagrin. Both of the Hobsons cask were in decent nick given that it was a quiet weekday afternoon (NBSS 3). A good one to say you’ve done.
